Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies results. Hickory Residents Directory does not retain a separate copy of those searches on its servers. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message and use it to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Routine hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time stamps. We review that information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or related technologies may also support basic analytics and, where relevant, advertising measurement.
How We Use Information
Information is used to run the service, address technical issues, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create profiles of individual visitors.
External Websites
Links may lead to Catawba County and North Carolina records portals, library collections, archives, or third-party search services. The privacy policy of the destination controls information submitted there. That includes sponsored results supplied by another company.
Who May Process Information
Hosting and support providers process server logs on our behalf. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires disclosure.
Information Security
The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the purposes described here. Because there are no visitor accounts, the service does not hold an account password or personal profile for a visitor.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor sent us information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held by a website. Because we retain very little, a request generally involves checking the contact mailbox and available server logs, then removing information we locate. Use the Contact page to make a request.
Records held by Hickory, Catawba County, or North Carolina agencies are outside our control. The North Carolina Public Records Act, Chapter 132, including G.S. 132-6 and G.S. 132-6.2, governs agency access and copying subject to statutory exceptions. Confidential categories can include voter data under G.S. 163-82.10 and vital records under G.S. 130A-93. Marriage-certificate access also has distinct rules under G.S. 130A-110. Direct a public-record correction or removal request to the office that holds that record.
The North Carolina Address Confidentiality Program permits qualifying participants to use a substitute address for specified public purposes. Catawba County also provides a law-enforcement officer address-removal form for residence information in its Tax Office and GIS processes. Those protections do not authorize anyone to reconstruct withheld information from another source.
